Alpine meadow near Wimbach Klamm, Germany.

Well, sorry for the extreme lack of updates this month. It's been really busy here!

In the last couple of weeks I've been to Prague with Marty's mom and stepfather, Dresden and Meissen with Marty and his mom, and (yesterday and today) Salzburg and the German Alps. The picture above was taken just this morning in an Alpine meadow. We had a gorgeous day for touring the mountains and the Chiemsee. Here's a composite picture of the waterfall we went to see today (Wimbach Klamm).

Last Wednesday I passed my audition for chorus! I have been practicing with the group for about a month, but before new members can perform with the chorus in concert, they have to sing one of the songs in quartet for the director. I sang "San Francisco Bay Blues" and I should be performing with them in their shows during June and July.

Marty's mom is here for a few more days and then she heads back home. We've had a great time and I have taken a lot of pictures on our travels. I will try to make some time to put them up soon. I hate getting so far behind. I am sure it's been three months since I updated the photo pages. I do actually have the pictures all sorted, but I need to code the pages and everything.

I hope to update more frequently again soon. Right now I feel like I'm on hiatus. I guess everyone's doing it...

Busy Week!

I've had a guest here this week from Connecticut and we have been busy doing touristy things all week. I've hardly had time to sit down, much less update!

Tuesday after she arrived we walked around in Munich and went to see the Glockenspiel. Wednesday we took a walking tour of Munich and spent some more time seeing the city. Thursday we went to the castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Friday we visited Dachau. And yesterday we went to Salzburg and did the Sound of Music tour.

Anyway, it has been a busy week! And tonight, Marty and I have dinner reservations at the restaurant in the Olympic Tower in Munich. We are celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary today!

Happy anniversary, honey!

Good News!

We passed our driver's license tests! Friday morning at 7:30 we went to the driving school to take our written exam, and we both passed very handily. You can only miss 9 points out of 110, and we both did better than that. Whew! What a relief.

Monday we can go to the Führerscheinstelle (the driver's license office) with our letters saying we passed the test, our passports, and our valid Connecticut driver's licenses. Then we can get our German driver's licenses. Thank goodness!

However, they will also take our Connecticut licenses away. I am disappointed because my CT license photo is the best I've ever had on my driver's license! Also, it's valid until I am 40! But apparently, there is no way to get around giving up our CT licenses. Luckily, Connecticut treats German driver's licenses purely as "out of state" licenses (I'm not sure what to make of that, exactly). However, it may be a pain when we go home to Georgia or other places in the US. We haven't been able to find out yet.

Marty says he guesses that means we'll just have to stay here longer instead.

After we took our test yesterday we celebrated by going to Wasserburg am Inn for the day. It is a really neat city about 50 km from Munich, which was hardly damaged during WW2. So the medieval and renaissance buildings there really do date from the middle ages and the renaissance. It was a fun day trip in a nice little city. Marty took the picture of me above from a bridge over the river Inn.
