A day for thanks

A day for thanks

Today is Thanksgiving in the US, and it's one of my favorite holidays. I'm not cooking turkey today, though I have many times through the years, but I hope everyone who is celebrating with the traditional meal will enjoy it.

This year I am thankful for a lot of things. I am thankful for my wonderful husband, whose birthday we celebrated yesterday with a chocolate cake and dinner with friends. I'm thankful for friends near and far, including the one who is visiting us from Georgia right now. And I am thankful for both our families. Even though we live far away from them, we know we are loved and supported and cared about.

I am thankful to be 29 weeks pregnant, and to feel the baby kicking every day. I am thankful for the specialists and treatments that have gotten us this far, after all these years of trying. And while I was recently diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, I'm very thankful for all the support I've been given by my doctors and the hospital diabetes counselor. I am learning how to control it and things are going well. I am thankful for the extensive monitoring I'll be given from now until delivery, even though I know at times it will be annoying to have to go to the doctor's office so frequently.

I'm thankful for my job and the flexibility that I am allowed during this time.

And I'm thankful for my cat, and for all the years we've had together.

That is a pretty long list, and it's not even comprehensive. I hope you have a lot to be thankful for, too.
