100 Days

Today was a beautiful fall day, even if it got dark before 5pm. This afternoon Marty and I went on a walk through the woods and enjoyed the sun, the blue sky, and the fall colors.

Tonight we watched the second episode of Cosmos. Marty got the whole set as an early birthday present and so we are watching the series. It is the first time I've ever seen it, but Marty watched it when it first aired in 1980 and it made a huge impression on him. We are both enjoying it.

My biggest news today is that our due date is now 100 days away. Tomorrow we will be in double digits. The real countdown won't begin for a while yet, but I am quietly celebrating every day and week that ticks by.

Waterbury Show

Just Warming Up...

On Saturday night, my chorus performed at the annual show of the Waterbury-Derby Valley Chordsmen, a men's barbershop chorus here in Connecticut. We had a great time! Marty took these pictures from the audience.

Our own show is in a couple of weeks (Saturday, November 5), so this performance gave us a chance to run through a lot of our new pieces and staging. Plus, we wore our new costumes for the first time! I am really looking forward to our show. If you're interested in going, there's lots of information on our website. You can buy tickets at the door or buy them in advance from me.

Here's a picture of us singing with the Valley Chordsmen. We sang one song with them at the end of the show.

In other news, work is busy, the weather has gotten colder, and I am still pregnant! Tomorrow I start the 25th week (out of 40). There are only about 3 more weeks left in the second trimester. I can hardly believe it!

Well, I have to run to the grocery store before dinner, so I should get moving!

Rain, rain, go away!

It's been raining here for ten days! Today, it finally stopped. Thank goodness! Marty and I met some friends for lunch and then went for a walk at a park in Glastonbury that we both like. Now we are doing laundry and other weekend things. Also, this afternoon we are planning to switch cars.

My car is just too low for me now. It is becoming uncomfortable to get in and out of it, because I have to stretch and twist. So starting tomorrow, I'll drive Marty's car and he'll drive mine.

Not that I mind! I love his car. But I sure am going to miss my CD player.

I have been busy with work and with chorus lately. My chorus is getting ready for our annual show on November 5... I have tickets for sale, if any local readers are interested in attending. Drop me an email soon if you want to buy some.

Getting Ready

Well, it's been a while since I posted. I've been busy driving here and there, to work and to chorus, and when I'm home I am usually very tired. But everything is going well. I am about to start my sixth month of pregnancy, if you can believe that!

So, Marty and I are starting to think about getting ready. The due date is in early February, and now that October is here it suddenly starts to seem closer. We found out a few weeks ago that the baby is a boy, and knowing that has made everything seem more real, as well. We even bought a crib! I can't believe it.

Things with the pregnancy seem to be going well. Like I said, I feel pretty good, and the baby seems healthy. We have had some ultrasounds and we listen to the fetal heartbeat regularly. I have also started to feel some movement, which is very reassuring.

We are also trying to figure out what we'll need when the baby comes. Amanda gave me a book about it that has helped a lot, but I am just not very knowledgable about what a baby really NEEDS. Besides the obvious (car seat, crib, diapers).

Ziggy definitely recommends the bouncy seat (a hand-me-down from my hairdresser, whose children have outgrown it). And no, we aren't going to let him sit in it until the baby gets here so that he thinks it belongs to him, he just took the opportunity to test it out when I brought it in the house. How could he resist?
