Upon turning 37
Today's my birthday. I am 37.
It was mostly a nice day, marred only by a somewhat trying 4-hour doctor's appointment (actually a series of appointments). I have this same testing done every week now, and it will continue until the end of the pregnancy, but thankfully it doesn't always take such a long time. Other than that it was a nice day. Marty took me out to dinner and afterwards I got to talk to some friends and family on the telephone.
Considering the gestational diabetes, I decided to skip having a birthday cake this year. I can't remember the last time I didn't have a cake, but this time it just made more sense not to have one in the house.
In some ways 37 sounds pretty old to me. Especially when I think about the fact that I'm just now (finally) having a baby, and a lot of other people my age have teenagers. But on the other hand, my attention is so firmly fixed elsewhere right now that I'm not really even thinking much about my birthday or age this year. I guess that is probably a good thing.
I've never really been hung up on age, anyway. It's just that sometimes I realize that 37 doesn't feel nearly as old as it seemed when I was younger. I suspect most ages are like that.

Happy (slightly belated) Birthday! :)
I'll be 39 next month, you young 'un.
Happy birthday!
Happy Belated Birthday! I missed your post yesterday. :( Funnily enough my birthday was on Monday. :D I however did not turn 37 though I think I wouldn't mind winding back the clock a couple of years. ;) 37 isn't old, far from it, remember it's all media hype. ;D
Happy birthday, Susie!
Hi and Happy Belated Birthday! My grandmother had a saying the "you should count money not birthdays" and she lived to be 94 and was quite comfortable financially when she left us.
This is a blockbuster for you!! We are thinking of you and can't wait to meet your little one.
:)
