And besides climbing the stairs...

Yes, I'm updating twice in one day. But it's a big day.

Not only did Alex climb the stairs today, but he also cut his first tooth. Yes! His lower left front tooth. It's sharp like a little razor, poking out of the gum, and his smile is about to change forever.

What's next, college?

I think it's time for a gate

A little while ago, when I was helping Marty move some boxes, I turned around and realized that Alex was climbing the stairs.

With a pencil in his hand.*

...

Hey, at least he only got to the fourth step before I caught him.

*Shoutout to Dixie! Yes, of course it was one of those pencils.

Fall!

Farmington Valley Chorus at the Big E
Originally uploaded by Raspberry World.

I can't believe it, but fall is here! We had a week of pretty weather, with blue skies and temps around 70 (mostly). A few of the trees are starting to change color. And chorus is really, really busy.

Last weekend we were in New Hampshire for our fall regional weekend. It's always a lot of fun to see our friends in other choruses and take classes together.

Then, on Wednesday, we went up to the Big E (aka the Eastern States Exposition) in Springfield, MA, to sing two performances. This year, we sang an afternoon performance on the stage outside the Connecticut Building, and an evening performance in the New England Center. Some of our friends were there to watch, and it was so much fun!

I added pictures from the fair to my Big E gallery (some of those pictures were taken last year, when I was pregnant).

This weekend we're trying to get caught up on some house stuff we've been working on. Babyproofing is coming along... slowly. It's a really arduous process. Especially since we live in a small place and don't really have room for all of our stuff here. Alex can always find something to get into!

It was rainy this morning, but Alex and I went out to a farmer's market in Lyme despite the weather. We needed to give Marty some space to do a project. And now Alex is taking a really long nap. This is probably the first time he's done this since I posted about it over a week ago. Wow.

Happy fall!

Busy napping

Alex and I have plans to meet friends this morning. In fact, we were supposed to be there twenty minutes ago. And it takes twenty-five minutes to get there from our house. So what am I doing updating Raspberry World? Well, we have a little rule in our house that goes something like this:

Never wake a sleeping baby.

This hasn't been much of a problem lately, since Alex seems to have given up naps with the arrival of September. It's gotten so bad that I've started to think that if he gets an hour a day of cumulative naps, we're doing pretty well. But this morning he's been asleep for over two hours. I guess it all finally caught up with him.

I hear a peep. Gotta go.
