Painting the Living Room, Spring 2000

Marty paints the ceilingFirst we painted the ceiling. It was amazing what a difference it made! The room already looked better.
Trish helps outThen we touched up all the spots we had had to patch and mend in the walls, and started to paint. Here's our friend Trish, who came over to lend a hand.

Susie paints tooHere I am with the roller, painting the first wall. The yellow turned out to be a great color. We get lots of sun in that room, and now it's very cheerful and light. I'll include some pictures of the whole room when we get the next roll of film developed.

Painting SupervisorAnd here's the painting supervisor, keeping an eye on us to make sure we do everything right.

The sun is shining! Here's how it turned out. With all the rain we've been having we had to wait almost a week before the sun came out and we could take a picture, but I've liked the yellow in every light I've seen it in yet.
A yellow cornerHere's the front corner of the house. On the floor now you can see the lumber that's part of the next project -- the bookcases.
Sunny yellow wallAnd finally, the wall where we took out that first baseboard heater. The bumpy spots under the window are the remnants of the previous owners' attempts at hanging drywall. Fixing that would have been a whole different project in itself -- but all in all the room is greatly improved.

Stay tuned for the next installment of "Habitat for Marty."
