Vermont and Massachusetts, July 2001 |

July 20 - 22, 2001. We took a quick weekend jaunt up to Vermont to stay with a friend, Trish. It's amazing to think that such a wonderful place is just a 2-hour drive away from where we live. Click on the pictures for a larger view. |

![]() The cabin sits at the top of a mountain in Readsboro, Vermont. The view is a little hazy in this picture, but if you look down across the meadow and then over the trees, you can see the mountains across the valley in the distance. |
![]() Looking down the meadow. It was so dark there at night that we could see the Milky Way. |
![]() Looking back up at the cabin. |
![]() Flowers in the yard. My car is parked in the background, on a very steep slant. |
![]() Windmills producing electricity. There were eight or ten of them, but they wouldn't all fit in the picture. |
![]() The information about the windmills... of course it's probably too tiny to read on the screen! |
![]() Marty and me. We really could not have asked for prettier weather that weekend. It was just gorgeous. |
![]() Here's Cool Trish in her truck. The dogs stayed home in Connecticut this time. |
![]() Vern's Fish Fry, where we ate lunch on Saturday during a break from the antique stores in Bennington, Vermont. |
![]() A mountain stream beside the road, where we killed an hour or so wading in the water. |

![]() Trish, chilling out on a rock. |
![]() Marty's feet, and mine. We may just be the two whitest white people on the planet. |
![]() Mr. Sierra Club took this picture. (You may remember his shots from the Mohawk Trail trip last fall.) |
![]() Sun, water, rocks. |
![]() Marty took a circuitous route out to this rock in the middle of the stream, but he didn't fall in. |
![]() The next day we went to Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. They have a bridge there that's nothing but flowers... it's amazing! Surprisingly enough, they call it the Bridge of Flowers. |
![]() Here I am hanging out on another bridge in Shelburne Falls. |
![]() They also have these glacial potholes, which have created a natural swimming hole that sits in the middle of town. It was a great day for climbing on rocks and checking out the water. |
![]() The color variations in the rocks were very beautiful. People were sunbathing and picnicking all over them. |
