Swearing-In Celebration

January 13, 2001: I become legit today. IŽll be sworn in as a Peace Corps volunteer this evening. I canŽt believe I actually made it through training. It definitely was not easy.

si04.jpg (75473 bytes) Ancha (my host mother) is decked out in her African garb for the party before we were sworn in. She was happy because the dress makes her look big. Looking big and plump is a good thing here.

Ancha's outfit shows her status. She is pretty well off. Also, note her nails are painted -- another sign of a leisurely life.

si08.jpg (60308 bytes) Ancha is very beautiful. I like that she wears her watch like that (with the face on the inside of her wrist).

Susan is totally awesome. One of the sweetest people in the world.
