Have Hello Kitty Boom Box, Will Bop

Taken in the garage this weekend. TWCC is great painting music.

Listening to:

On the way in to work today, This Time Around by Hanson. A couple of summers ago this was one of my favorite pop records. Now whenever I play it, it takes me back to June and July 2000, Maria's visit, and Laura's. That was a great summer.

Some of my favorite songs from this album:

  • If Only
  • Can't Stop
  • Runaway Run
  • Sure About It
  • You Never Know
Pure pop. Love those boys.

What's the deal with this pop life, and when is it gonna fade out?

Thursday, May 23, 2002

Listening to:

Express Yourself! (A Phantom Hand Production)

This is an awesome mix. I had forgotten how much I loved it. I never, ever play it anymore, but yesterday it seemed somehow appropriate.

I can't believe how good it is.

I Wanna Sex You Up
Color Me Badd

Come inside take off your coat
I'll make you feel at home
Now let's pour a glass of wine
Cause now we're all alone
I've been waiting all night
So just let me hold you close to me
Cause I've been dying for you girl
To make love to me

Girl you make me feel real good
We can do it til we both wake up
Girl you know I'm hooked on you
And this is what I'll do...

I wanna sex you up
All night
You make me feel good
I want to
I wanna sex you up

Let me take off all your clothes
Disconnect the phone so nobody knows
Let me light a candle
So we can make it better
Makin' love until we drown. Dig?

Girl you know it feels real good
We can do it til we both wake up
Girl you know I'm hooked on you
And this is what I'll do...

I wanna sex you up
Makin' love until we drown
I wanna sex you up
All I wanna do is
I wanna sex you up
All night

Girl you just make me feel so good.
I just wanna, I just wanna look at you
Don't say anything at all,
Just lay back, and enjoy the ride
Yeah

All I wanna do is...
I wanna sex you up, all night
Girl you make me feel good.
I wanna rub you down.
I wanna sex you up
Listen...

Make sweet lovin' all night long
Feels so right it can't be wrong
Don't be shy get with me
Open up your heart and I'll set you free
Oh I wanna touch you in all the right places baby,
I wanna make love to you, yeah
All night, all night...

Music...

Listening to lots of different stuff because I am working on a mix for my visit to Detroit. I'm still not sure what will make the final cut.

There's something very Zen about choosing the songs for a mix. There are certain songs that seem to need to go together, somehow, and I often don't know what they are until they just seem to happen into the right order. I'm often surprised at how things turn out.

Not that I'm saying all my mixes are transcendent, not by any stretch of the imagination. I have made quite a few clinkers in my time. But sometimes you just get it so right. I love that feeling.

Back to the mixin'...

In Training

At the end of this month, I'm going to the TV taping of the Teen Choice Music Mania 2002 concert. It will feature performances by the following artists:

  • Ja Rule
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Ludacris
  • Alanis Morissette
  • Ashanti
  • Tweet
  • Craig David
  • Nelly
  • The Calling
  • Vanessa Carlton
  • Michelle Branch
Um, help? With the exception of Alanis Morissette, I really know none of these artists' music. (Okay, I do know the Nelly version of Girlfriend, of course.)

Any suggestions of songs to listen to by these artists? If so, please write me or comment, below.

Johnny Feelgood, Johnny right on
Johnny miss you, Johnny light on
Johnny makes me
Feel strangely good about myself

Moderation is a memory
Dive right in and let him send me
I could take this
In doses large enough to kill

    Liz Phair, Johnny Feelgood
