Listening this morning to one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm using it on a soundtrack mix.
Interstate Love Song Stone Temple Pilots
Waiting on a Sunday afternoon For what I read between the lines Your lies Feeling like a hand in rusted shame So do you laugh or does it cry? Reply?
Leaving on a southern train Only yesterday you lied, Promises of what I seemed to be Only watched the time go by, All of these things you said to me.
Breathing is the hardest thing to do With all I've said and all that's dead for you You lied -- good bye
Leaving on a southern train Only yesterday you lied, Promises of what I seemed to be Only watched the time go by, All of these things I said to you

Flashback 1995!
Listening to Hootie and the Blowfish today, Cracked Rear View. I still like several of the songs, and Darius Rucker has such a gorgeous voice.
I saw them in concert at Penn State that year, or maybe 1996. They were touring with Toad the Wet Sprocket. It was one of those situations where the tour had been booked when Toad had a few minor hits and Hootie's CD was just coming out. By the time the show hit Penn State, though, Cracked Rear View was skyrocketing to the top of the charts. "Hold My Hand" was being played constantly on VH1. But Hootie and the Blowfish had been booked as the opening act, so they still went on first.
I haven't listened to this CD in a long time, until today. I'm glad to find I still like it.

Vacation Mix 1999
Wanted to hear New Test Leper on my way out of work today (my last day!), so I dug out this vacation mix I made back in 1999 when Marty and I went to New Orleans and Mississippi. It's a great mix.

side two: down at the twist & shout - mary chapin carpenter pulling mussels from a shell - squeeze thunder road - bruce springsteen lightning crashes - live a sound that only you can hear - k’s choice the bitch is back - elton john i’m always in love - wilco that was your mother - paul simon imagination - brian wilson burning down the house - talking heads this one’s for me - tom petty walking after you - foo fighters
Strangeness from the All Music Guide: I was looking up some info about a Missy Elliott song (Get UR Freak On, if you must know), and I noticed that over in the "See Also" section to the right of the page, the recommended album was The Best of Debby Boone.
I love the Internet.

Listening to:
Madonna, Greatest Hits Volume II Sheryl Crow, The Globe Sessions
On the Madonna album I especially like "Human Nature," "Secret," "The Power of Good-Bye," and "Don't Tell Me."
Sheryl Crow has a cool version of Bob Dylan's song "Mississippi" on this album. I really like it.

Shut Down Beach Boys
Tach it up, tach it up Buddy gonna shut you down
It happened on the strip where the road is wide Two cool shorts standin' side by side Yeah, my fuel injected Stingray and a four-thirteen Revvin' up our engines and it sounds real mean
Tach it up, tach it up, Buddy gonna shut you down
Declinin' numbers at an even rate At the count of one we both accelerate My Stingray is light the slicks are startin' to spin But the four-thirteen's really diggin' in
Gotta be cool now power shift here we go
Superstock Dodge is windin' out in low But my fuel injected Stingray's really startin' to go To get the traction I'm ridin' the clutch My pressure plate's burnin', that machine's too much
Pedal's to the floor hear the dual quads drink And now the four-thirteen's lead is startin' to shrink He's hot with ram induction but it's understood I got a fuel injected engine sittin' under my hood
Shut it off, shut it off, buddy now I shut you down Shut it off, shut it off, buddy now I shut you down

Entertaining Myself
You know that song, "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow? I really like that song. In fact, I just put it on a mix this weekend. But what I like best about that song is the way I sing it in my head whenever I hear it:
Are you dumb enough to be my man?
BWAH!
I do not know why that cracks me up so much, but it does. It really does!
