"But I'm sad to say I'm on my way Won't be back for many a day My heart is down, my head is turnin' around I had to leave my little girl in Kingston town."
Harry Belafonte has such a sweet, sweet voice. I got one of his albums for Christmas and I've been playing it a lot. He is coming to play in Munich sometime this year, I think.
The concert scene here is interesting, with a combination of familiar acts and groups/performers I've never heard of. We bought tickets to the Wallflowers and Aimee Mann recently, and neither of them were sold out. I haven't figured out how to buy tickets other than going downtown to World of Music (WOM) and buying them directly at the ticket desk there.
Of course, there's also plenty of classical music here in Munich. We are planning to see the opera Don Giovanni in March, when our pal Katynka comes to visit. She is quite an opera fan. The description of the opera cracks me up:
Don Giovanni
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Lorenzo da Ponte
Never seen so much red: hell is blood-red. The hell of lust. And the stage where Don Giovanni seduces them all is blood-red. A man in the thrall of his erotic drive! His servant even keeps a record of them all: 231 in Germany, and a grand total of 1,003 in Spain. Here the miscreant has his being in a breathtaking production by Nicholas Hytner and Bob Crowley. And: he snags them all! Including you! There is no happy ending.
In Italian with German surtitles
I love that. "There is no happy ending." Heh.

I've been listening to a lot of music lately. Just a sampling:
