This double CD was a birthday present for Celeste, who was my partner in crime in
loving hair metal of the 1980s and 1990s. The concept is simple -- the songs we loved, the
songs we loved to hate, and the songs we hated to admit that we loved.
Disc one -- The A List -- contains artists
you might not actually be embarrassed for people to see in your CD collection. Aerosmith.
Bon Jovi. Def Leppard. Guns N' Roses. These are the songs that it's not so bad to admit
you like.
Disc two -- The B List -- contains the other
stuff. Poison. Warrant. Motley Crue. Slaughter. And worse. These are the songs you know
all the words to, but you only sing them with all the windows rolled up in the car.
Celeste and I were fascinated by the pop-metal of the early 1990s, with a kind of
train-wreck fascination. This disc is a testament to that.
Hey, if you can't share your weaknesses with your friends,
who can you share them with?
