Used and Rare - An REM Mix
SUSHI-X-2000-11
April, 2000

Everybody knows REM started out in Athens, Georgia. Not everybody knows that I did, too.

I was in Athens going to college between 1986 and 1990, which covers the time when REM hit it really, really big. They weren't playing a lot of club shows in Athens by the time I was around, but they were certainly a presence in town. I spotted the members of the band frequently in downtown Athens. They were our very own local celebrities.

Of course I was much too cool back then to like their music. Now I know better, thank goodness.

This is just a mix of live and acoustic stuff, mostly from Napster. The pictures on the front of the CD are local Athens sites: Wuxtry, GA Bar, Allen's, the 40-Watt, and of course the REM church. "Used and Rare" is the slogan for a local used bookstore, Jackson Street Books.
