Make
a Wish This is my sister Dixie's birthday mix from October, 1999 when she turned 23. As most of my friends know, Dixie is the queen of coolness. She knows all the coolest music, hangs with all the coolest people, and dresses cooler than anyone you've ever seen. We've always liked some of the same music, but most of it is older stuff. I thought I'd make her a CD of more recent music that I'd been listening to, and see if it passed the cool test. It did! It's funny that I even know any new music, considering that I never, ever listen to the radio. Most of these songs were passed along to me by friends who know more about the world of current music than I do. My main abettors in this case were Maria and Christina, both of whom have excellent, eclectic tastes in music. And some of these songs I was lucky enough to find on my own, either because I already knew and loved the artist, or just by dumb luck. I made the CD cover using Photoshop. I started with a nice big clip of that colorful geometric background, and then took the photo images in all different colors and fit them to some of the patches on the background. On the inside (also shown below) I took the same background and lightened it and blurred it. Then I took several of the photo images I used on the front and fit them together like a puzzle over to the side. I was really happy with how this one turned out. It's one of my favorite mixes.
