| Big Bill Lee's Sweet Baked Beans Yield: large quantity, perfect for parties or barbecues.
I don't know who Big Bill Lee is, but this was one of the
first recipes I ever made from my mom's recipe box. I still love it today.
Ingredients:
- 3 - 1lb. 5oz. cans of pork and beans, plus one small can drained and
rinsed pork and beans (reserve these)
- 2 slices bacon
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 cup tightly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 2 Tbs. honey
- 4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 green pepper, chopped
Method
- Cook all ingredients (except reserved beans) together for three hours
in a slow cooker or crock pot, dipping off juice as it cooks.
- About 15 - 30 minutes before serving, add small can pork and beans,
drained and rinsed.
