| Chocolate Chip - Oatmeal Cookies Makes 4 - 5 dozen cookies
My favorite recipe for chocolate
chip cookies. Not everybody likes them with oatmeal, but I think it adds
much-needed texture to balance the chocolate.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbs milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
- 2 1/2 cup oats, old fashioned or quick
- 12 oz. (2 cups) chocolate chips (I like semi-sweet)
- 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional; I like pecans)
Method
- Heat oven to 375 deg F.
- Beat together margarine and sugars until creamy.
- Add eggs, milk, and vanilla. Beat well.
- Add combined flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
- Stir in oats, chocolate chips, and nuts; mix well.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 7 - 9 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 - 13 minutes for
a crisp cookie.
- Cool one minute on cookie sheet, then remove to wire rack or
brown paper and cool completely.
- Store tightly covered.
